Markus Kopp (50) has been a member of the Management Board at Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG since 2006.
Before joining the airport holding company, he headed the central office of the Aviation Services & Human Resources division at Lufthansa from 2000 onwards. The graduate in business administration launched his career in 1987, initially completing histrainingasan airlinesales professional. He then worked in the company’s foreign operations department, where he was the national representative in Da res Salaam in Tanzania, among other things.
Alongside his university business studies course in Frankfurt, where he wrote his degree dissertation on the opportunities of regional airports in the field of express logistics, Markus Kopp worked as the assistant to the General Freight Officer from 1994 onwards. In this capacity, he provided support for Lufthansa Cargo AG as it gained legal independence and he also became the assistant to the Chairman of the Board at the same time.
In 1997, he took over responsibility for the global cooperation between Lufthansa Cargo and its then holding, DHL Worldwide Express with offices in Frankfurt and Brussels. Here he headed the international cooperation between Lufthansa Cargo AG and DHL, one of the largest customers in the Lufthansa Group’s logistics division.
Markus Kopp has been honorary consul of the Republic of Poland for the Free State of Saxony since 2011, a member of the management board of the European Metropolitan Region of Central Germany, a member of the German Association for Personnel Management and a member of the State Tourism Association in Saxony. He is the co-author of several publications on the subject of human capital. Markus Kopp lives in Leipzig; he is married and has one son.
